I’m an artiste!
Yes, please say artiste with an accent. It’s just more fun that way.
The other night I was invited to an event at Palettes in Natick. My friend Charlene organized the whole shin dig and it was really fun!
Palettes is an art studio with a bar and really good food. Owned and manned by some really great people to boot. You can sign up by yourself, with friends, or book a party or corporate event. Simply go to the website and pick the painting you’d like to create. When you arrive they’ll give you an apron and you get yourself a drink or something to knosh on.
In a little bit, after you’ve mingeld, you begin. You get a plate and pump out all the colors you need and have a seat at your very own easel. There is an instructor helping every step of the process, or not – you choose.
Truth be told I was nervous to go. I don’t have much in the way of drawing talent, at all. I could feel my heart start to beat a little faster when I was pumping out the paint. It took me a while to actually put the brush to the canvas. I was so stricken with the thought that I was going to mess it up.That my picture wouldn’t be as good as everyone else’s, that I wouldn’t be any good at it, at all.
These are all the reasons I didn’t take any art classes in high school after we didn’t have to anymore. I was petrified of the judgement.
Well I’m here to tell you that Palettes is a judgment free zone. A judgment free zone with alcohol and super yummy food. Seriously, where else to you find that? Everyone had so much fun and created some really pretty pictures :-)
Pretty cool , right?
Palettes is on Facebook and soon to be on Twitter I’m sure. Metrowest Mamas is the place to go to find out about more cool local things like this.
