The Artful Dodger

We just gave our crib tent to friends of ours who also have a climber. S seems to have no desire to jump, so off it went. Which reminded me of this moment…

October 2008 – As Steve was putting N down for a nap yesterday, he fell victim to The Artful Dodger…

Steve had no idea what had transpired as he sang his naptime songs and gave kisses to his precious son.  N sweetly said “bye bye Dada” and watched him walk out of the room.

Oh the joy he must have felt as he saw his father leave, realizing the full scope of his bounty!   He had a beautiful new black pen and a completely blank white canvas in his crib tent :-)  Nate had deftly removed the marker from his father’s front pocket.

To be sure pick-pocketing “requires considerable dexterity and a knack for misdirection. Pickpockets and other thieves, especially those working in teams, sometimes apply distraction, such as asking a question or bumping into the victim. These distractions sometimes require sleight of hand, speed, misdirection and other types of skills.”  Wikipedia

While we will encourage these skills that make him a talented pickpocket we will stress in no uncertain terms that stealing isn’t nice.  However, please mind your belongings around this cunningly cute thief.

I think I’ll start Flashback Fridays to get all this old stuff in the blog.  Yes, I am aware that today is not Friday.  Maybe this is First Week Flashback and I’ll do it everyday just cause you’re so cheeky to mention it.  So there.
