Well I’m not trying to fit in a bikini is that’s what you’re thinking. Um, no.

I moved upstairs to my new confessional set up. I think you’ll like it. It’s very Real Housewives. No it’s not, really. At all. It’s my bed. That’s all I got. Everyone was yelling downstairs so I had to move.

Vlog #3 Baby! (please say that like joey from Friends if you’re of a certain age. “London Baby!”)

I’m putting it out there even though it’s a backlit mess. I have to move on. It’ll be fine. This is a journey right? I spent the day trying to figure out the best angles to shoot food prep in my little kitchen. It’s gonna be fun kids!

So talking about that space, the kitchen, I spend most of my time there. It’s where all the magic happens.

To be corny it’s where I sustain my family and build bonds with my kids. Friends come over and we laugh there. Someone needs something they find me in the kitchen.

So there it is or rather here it is…

I don’t want to be vapid, but do I look good?

Hahahaha! Seriously I said that on video. OK maybe not that. The two utterances were spaced out a bit. But that only underlined their ridiculousness. Then to pile on to the ridiculousness I titled the video that. I should get lots of lovely comments about how lovely I am. (sarcasm emoticon)

So today I talk about my piss poor timing for my video adventure, my headache (still), massaging kale, bon bons, what the heck do I talk about, and oh, ‘am I pretty’?

The Nutcracker

Last year we went to The Nutcracker as guests of the Boston Ballet. It was wonderful and magical. I gave you five reasons why I thought you should go.

A Christmas Story – The Musical: A review

There are a lot of reasons I like to blog. One of them is for the opportunities that my family and I get, that under normal circumstances we wouldn’t do. My kids are 3, 5, &7. Let’s face it, they’re not really theater material. I would not under any circumstances pay to take these three little hellions to the theater. You know, with the general public. OMG. Am I crazy?

In comes the email with the A Christmas Story pitch. I think to myself -Are you kidding me? But I say yes anyway. Thinking that if I only take the 7 year old it’s totally worth it. My husband and I have been talking about taking him to a show. He’s been taking drama and hip hop and tap for two years. We figure he should see what his hard work could lead him to one day…if he wants.

The day of the show came and I decided that we would all go. If someone misbehaved we would take them out end of story. Wanna hear something amazing – they were awesome! Complete strangers told us so, at intermission and after the show. My kids. Amazingly well behaved. In public. In a theater.

I would like to give credit where credit is due (MEEEEEEEEEE!!!) and say that the production was so well done that it held everyone’s attention for 2.5 hours. Everyone. The 3 yo started to slip towards the end, but each time I would direct his gaze to the stage and say something about the play and he was back.

The sets, the music, the actors, the dancing, the jokes, actual dogs running across the stage. It was such a great show. I will tell you that if you don’t swear in front of your kids at home you may not enjoy a few bits. They say smart ass and sex. And allude to the F word for an entire scene. (If we’re being honest here my kids MAY have heard a swear once or twice, or 100 times. I don’t know. It’s all a profanity laced blur much like The Old Man :-)

My favorite dance number.

Red Ryder carbine-action, two hundred shot Range Model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time.

The triple dog dare tongue to the pole scene.

One of my favorite additions to the musical was the character development of the mom. As a mom it really touched my heart.

The whole amazingly talented cast. Please note how many kids are pictured there. So many with such great careers ahead of them, but god they must be tired.

So if you like the theater or like A Christmas Story- The Movie ,you will love this show.

Every Christmas Eve, after all my family leaves, I turn on the tv & start watching the 24 hours of A Christmas Story. I’m usually finishing wrapping presents. When we get up in the morning we have it on all morning while we open gifts! I think all of us could quote the entire movie!
